The Day the Earth Stood Still GoMovies Review

The Day the Earth Stood Still is not just a movie, it is life as it is, without embellishment, Robert Wise perfectly revealed the harsh, sometimes funny, but most importantly, real reality.

A wonderful movie with a twisted plot, which in 1951 was accompanied by great posters and promo shots, it was nice to see Bess Flowers, Billy Gray, Carleton Young, Dorothy Neumann, Drew Pearson, Edith Evanson, Elmer Davis, Frances Bavier, Frank Conroy, Freeman Lusk, Gabriel Heatter, George Lynn, Glenn Hardy, Grady Galloway, H.V. Kaltenborn, Harry Harvey, Harry Lauter, Hassan Khayyam, House Peters Jr., Hugh Marlowe, James Doyle, James Seay, John Barton, John Brown, Larry Dobkin, Lock Martin, Marjorie Crossland, Michael Rennie, Olan Soule, Patricia Neal, Robert Osterloh, Sam Jaffe, Sammy Ogg, Stuart Whitman, Tyler McVey, Wheaton Chambers in one project.

It was the first movie in the genre of , after which I had a double impression: on the one hand, it was interesting to watch the characters, and on the other, some of the actors clearly lacked experience.

The movie is as multifaceted as our life is multifaceted, I advise you to postpone everything and spend 92 min minutes on this movie watching.

To my surprise, Robert Wise managed to very succinctly and gracefully tell a seemingly ordinary story, in which each character deserves special attention.

The movie keeps tight grip on until the final credits, despite the fact that Bess Flowers, Billy Gray, Carleton Young, Dorothy Neumann, Drew Pearson, Edith Evanson, Elmer Davis, Frances Bavier, Frank Conroy, Freeman Lusk, Gabriel Heatter, George Lynn, Glenn Hardy, Grady Galloway, H.V. Kaltenborn, Harry Harvey, Harry Lauter, Hassan Khayyam, House Peters Jr., Hugh Marlowe, James Doyle, James Seay, John Barton, John Brown, Larry Dobkin, Lock Martin, Marjorie Crossland, Michael Rennie, Olan Soule, Patricia Neal, Robert Osterloh, Sam Jaffe, Sammy Ogg, Stuart Whitman, Tyler McVey, Wheaton Chambers performed their roles rather weakly, probably Stanislavsky himself would have told them: `I don’t believe`.
